Bass Lake Wasn’t Always a Lake
Just over 100 years ago the area now known as Bass Lake was a tranquil meadow, inhabited by wildlife and perhaps a few fish in Willow Creek, and although it was perfectly lovely as it was, it was decided that a dam would be needed to provide power to the residents of the valley and that dam turned Willow Creek into a Reservoir, the very body of water we know as Bass Lake today. Named one of The West’s Best Lakes, your adventures here will be memorable ones as you swim, fish, water ski, or simply sit at shore’s edge basking in the serenity of another beautiful California day.
Yosemite Adventures Begin Here
Yosemite National Park was established in 1890, offering 748,542 acres of stunning views, protected wildlife, mountains, waterfalls, and of course the giant sequoia trees have stood in their spots for thousands of years. As you can imagine, there are a wide variety tours that take people into the wilds of the park, and Bass Lake often serves as a launch point for the tours that include hiking, camping, fly fishing, and other recreational activities.
Bass Lake is also an unincorporated community with a year-round population of 575 residents, but that number can multiply exponentially during the summer season. And where there are people, there must always be places to eat and restaurants like Ducey’s on the Lake and Casa Velasco promise that no guest will leave unhappy or still hungry.
